About Me

Tree roots sprawling over rocky ground in a sunlit forest.

My background

Photography found me in a high school darkroom in Oswego, New York, where I learned to develop black and white film and fell completely in love. I never stopped taking photos after that — but it wasn't until I returned to upstate New York in 2017 and settled in Ithaca that I finally gave myself permission to share the work with the world.

I am self-taught, having earned my B.A. in English Writing Arts from SUNY Oswego in 1993, and my M.A. in Counseling and Somatic Psychology from John F. Kennedy University in 2003. Growing up on Lake Ontario in Oswego, New York, I developed a deep connection to water and the natural world. I've also been fortunate to live in profoundly beautiful places — the San Francisco Bay Area, Boulder, Colorado, and the lush Washington, DC/Maryland area. In 2017, I returned to upstate New York with my husband to raise our daughter closer to family. We chose Ithaca because the sacredness of the land and all the waterfalls spoke deeply to us. Settling just a few blocks from Cascadilla Falls, I began capturing the region's beauty on daily walks and started selling my work in 2022.

My experience

I shoot with a Canon EOS 5D Mark IV DSLR camera and use Adobe Lightroom for post processing. I make all fine art prints myself in my home studio using a professional grade Canon inkjet printer and Moab fine art archival papers, ensuring my images will not discolor or fade with age.

Today I sell my work at juried art shows and exhibitions throughout the Finger Lakes Region and beyond. My work has been selected for juried exhibitions at the national and international level. Recent honors include third prize at the State of the Art Gallery juried exhibition in Ithaca, New York, and selection for exhibition at Black Box Gallery in Portland, Oregon. I am also a member at Handwork Artisan Cooperative in Ithaca, New York, where a diverse collection of my matted and framed prints are showcased.

My vision

My vision

I have always been someone who notices things — the way fog transforms a familiar street into something otherworldly, the way light moves through a sheer curtain, the way an ordinary moment can stop you in your tracks if you let it. I believe every moment is alive with something worth seeing. My camera is an extension of how I see the world.
